About the Team OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. Our product teams work across research, engineering, product, data, and design to bring OpenAI’s technology to people and businesses around the world. Design plays a critical role in making powerful AI intuitive, useful, and trustworthy. We hold a high bar for quality and build experiences that earn users’ confidence, while moving quickly and learning from real-world feedback. We favor early validation and continuous refinement over waiting until every detail is perfect. About the Role We’re looking for a Product Design Leader to shape how startups, small businesses, and growing teams discover, adopt, and unlock lasting value from Codex and ChatGPT. You’ll lead design across the B2B growth journey, creating experiences that turn the potential of AI into meaningful, everyday impact for this user base. This role is a mix of team leadership and hands-on design execution. You’ll lead and develop a small team of designers, contribute directly to high-impact projects, and help set the standard for impactful, simple, user-centric experiences. You balance exceptional craft with momentum, creating a culture where the team launches, learns, and improves quickly. You already use tools such as Codex to extend what you can build. As a leader, you help designers strengthen their judgment, confidence, and influence through clear and actionable feedback. You’re also a highly effective cross-functional partner who brings people together, navigates ambiguity, and builds alignment through clear communication and collaborative problem-solving. Codex is on an extraordinary trajectory, and this role offers a rare opportunity to work across both sides of the product: the consumer experiences through which people first discover and adopt our technology, and the business experiences that help teams use it together. You’ll bring a high bar for craft, strong product judgment, and comfort using data to guide decisions without losing sight of the human experience. This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: - Lead design for growth experiences across Codex and ChatGPT for our Business users. - Manage, mentor, and develop a small team (2–5+) of product designers, creating a culture of craft, ownership, candid feedback, and high performance. - Operate as a hands-on design leader, taking on select projects and contributing directly at important moments. - Set a high bar for product quality across interaction design, visual craft, systems thinking, content, and end-to-end experience. - Partner closely with product, engineering, data science, research, and go-to-market teams to shape strategy and execution. - Design and improve experiences across discovery, onboarding, activation, engagement, collaboration, conversion, and retention. - Use quantitative data, experimentation, research, and qualitative insights to identify opportunities and evaluate outcomes. - Translate complex and rapidly evolving AI capabilities into clear, approachable experiences for people with a wide range of technical expertise. - Move fluidly between long-term product vision and fast, iterative execution. - Help define what AI-native growth experiences should look, feel, and behave like. You might thrive in this role if you: - Have a portfolio demonstrating exceptional product thinking, interaction design, and visual craft across complex, shipped products. - Are a player-coach who enjoys developing other designers while remaining close to the details of the work. - Have managed product designers, or are a senior design leader who has meaningfully mentored others, led complex initiatives, and raised the quality of a broader team. - Can coach designers to move quickly while maintaining a high bar for clarity, coherence, and craft. - Are fluent in using AI as part of how you explore, prototype, communicate, and create. - Are comfortable working with data and experiments, and can balance quantitative signals with research, judgment, and design intuition. - Possess strong product judgment and can connect user needs, business goals, and technical possibilities. - Can turn ambiguous, fast-moving problems into a clear vision and actionable direction. - Communicate clearly and can align teams around a compelling product narrative. - Are excited to rethink established patterns and invent interactions that feel native to AI. - Thrive in highly collaborative environments and enjoy partnering closely with engineering, product, research, and data teams. - Care deeply about building products that are useful, trustworthy, and worthy of users’ time. Direct experience in growth design, developer products, or people management is welcome but not required. We’re open to experienced design managers as well as exceptional senior individual contributors who have demonstrated strong mentorship, leadership, and team-level impact. About the Team OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Identity team builds the foundational systems that enable people, organizations, devices, and agents to securely access OpenAI products. The team works across consumer and enterprise experiences, including account structures, sign-in, authentication, recovery, privacy, permissions, administration, and agent identity. As AI systems become increasingly capable of acting on behalf of people and organizations, we are defining new models for authorization and trust across human-to-agent and agent-to-agent interactions. About the Role In this role, you’ll lead design for foundational identity experiences across OpenAI’s products. You’ll make permissions, access, risk, and administration feel clear, safe, and genuinely usable—whether someone is securing a personal account, administering access across an enterprise, signing in to another product with ChatGPT, or authorizing an agent to perform sensitive work. In this role, you will: - Lead the design direction for identity, account security, permissions, and administrative experiences across OpenAI’s consumer and enterprise products. - Design and ship high-quality experiences spanning sign-in, authentication, account recovery, device accounts, privacy, access controls, governance, and remediation. - Define mental models and interaction patterns for human-to-agent and agent-to-agent identity, authorization, and trust. - Help users understand what people, systems, and agents can access or do on their behalf. - Design security checks and confirmation flows that protect sensitive actions while minimizing unnecessary friction. - Partner closely with product management, engineering, security, privacy, and design peers to shape strategy, roadmap, and execution. - Navigate complex roles, policies, dependencies, and product states to create systems that remain coherent as they scale. - Contribute to and evolve the design systems and patterns used across OpenAI’s identity experiences. You might thrive in this role if you: - Are a systems-oriented product thinker who can reason across complex states, dependencies, policies, and user types. - Have designed role-based access or permissions for organizations with multiple teams, resources, or levels of administration. - Understand how to balance security, usability, and business needs in high-stakes workflows. - Have strong UX/UI and interaction design skills, with a high bar for contemporary craft, clarity, and quality. - Can turn complicated technical capabilities and policies into mental models that users can understand and trust. - Are comfortable shaping direction when both the underlying technology and established user expectations are evolving. - Have experience with enterprise, platform, desktop, infrastructure, or similarly complex product environments. - Are excited to establish new conventions for identity and access in a world where AI agents increasingly act on behalf of people and organizations. Product Designer, Design Systems

Negotiable

About the Role In this role, you’ll lead and evolve the design system foundations for ChatGPT. You’ll make nuanced design judgment explicit and usable across product teams, establishing the principles, patterns, and standards that enable coherent, high-quality experiences at scale. A paramount part of this role is raising OpenAI’s craft bar. This work extends beyond maintaining a component library: you’ll define what excellent product design looks and feels like, establish clear guidance for choosing and applying interface patterns, and ensure that new ChatGPT experiences strengthen a coherent system across platforms. Working closely with research, engineering, product, and design, you’ll create a continuous learning loop between design principles, product experiences, evaluation, and evolving technology—shaping a system that becomes more capable and expressive as ChatGPT grows. This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role you will: - Define an exceptionally high standard for craft and taste, translating that standard into principles, guidance, and examples that elevate the quality of ChatGPT. - Own and evolve ChatGPT’s design foundations, including typography, sizing, spacing, layout, motion, accessibility, and responsive behavior. - Establish a shared source of truth across platforms and improve the systems connecting tokens, components, patterns, widgets, learning experiences, and app-like product experiences. - Build a comprehensive design systems framework with clear, opinionated guidance about when and how product teams should use different interface patterns. - Translate design judgment into durable standards and use prototyping and evaluation workflows to test experiences, identify recurring issues, and improve the system. - Identify promising patterns across emerging product experiences and turn them into reusable, documented foundations. - Partner with research, engineering, product, and design to evolve the design system, its technical architecture, and how it is applied across ChatGPT. - Help shape new ChatGPT experiences—including shopping, learning, and advanced reasoning—while ensuring their contributions strengthen the shared design system. You might thrive in this role if you: - Bring an exceptional craft bar and are motivated to raise the quality, clarity, and distinctiveness of design across OpenAI. - Have sophisticated design taste and can make the judgment behind it explicit, teachable, and actionable for others. - Have deep experience designing and evolving product or design systems at scale. - See a design system as a living body of product judgment, not simply a collection of components. - Have exceptional command of typography, layout, spacing, responsive behavior, accessibility, and interaction design. - Can move fluently between foundational systems work and concrete, high-craft product experiences. - Care as much about choosing the right default as designing the full range of possibilities. - Can explain not only what a pattern should look like, but when a product team should choose it and why. - Are skilled at turning ambiguous or inconsistent work into a coherent, extensible system. - Are curious about emerging technology and how design systems can evolve alongside new product capabilities and interaction models. Product Marketing Manager, IT Admin and Governance

Negotiable

ABOUT THE TEAM The B2B Marketing team contributes to OpenAI's broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. We are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI's products and platform. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Sales, Research, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for an enterprise Product Marketing Manager to own the administrator and governance experience across ChatGPT Work and Codex. IT administrators, security teams, and deployment owners are often the difference between an AI product being available and an organization actually putting it to work. This role will define how OpenAI earns the trust of the people responsible for approving, deploying, managing, and expanding AI inside their organizations. You will translate a fast-moving set of enterprise capabilities into a clear, practical story covering setup, access, controls, governance, security, usage, and value. You will own the administrator audience as a dedicated product marketing discipline, partnering closely with Product, Security, Sales, Customer Success, Growth, Customer Education, and other Marketing teams. Your job is not simply to announce new features. It is to help administrators understand what has changed, what they can control, how to deploy responsibly, and why expanding access is the right decision for their organization. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Own the IT administrator and governance audience: Build a deep understanding of the needs, decisions, objections, and workflows of workspace administrators, IT leaders, security teams, and enterprise deployment owners. - Define the enterprise administration and governance story: Develop clear positioning and messaging across workspace setup, feature enablement, identity and access, roles and permissions, data and connector access, agent controls, auditability, analytics, and spend management. - Lead administrator-focused product launches: Shape launch strategy, messaging, and readiness for capabilities that affect administration, deployment, governance, or control across ChatGPT Work and Codex. - Make product changes understandable and actionable: Build a predictable administrator communications motion that explains what is changing, who is affected, what decisions or actions are required, and how customers can enable new capabilities responsibly. - Create the materials that unblock deployment: Partner with Product, Security, Documentation, and customer-facing teams on practical setup guidance, governance explainers, deployment resources, FAQs, demos, and field enablement. - Turn administrator insight into better product decisions: Bring recurring customer objections, implementation barriers, security questions, and adoption patterns back to Product and Engineering to inform priorities and roadmap tradeoffs. - Build always-on administrator education and engagement: Develop coordinated programs across customer communications, webinars, peer learning, customer stories, lifecycle campaigns, and relevant in-product experiences. - Connect administrative approval to broader adoption: Partner with Growth, Sales, Customer Success, and product marketing peers to move organizations from evaluation and approval to enablement, rollout, and sustained usage. - Earn trust through accuracy and customer proof: Clearly distinguish available capabilities from future plans, represent controls and limitations honestly, and develop evidence that helps administrators make the case for responsible expansion. - Measure administrator and deployment outcomes: Track the signals that matter, including eligible workspace enablement, time to deployment, adoption of relevant controls, field objections, administrator engagement, and confidence in enterprise readiness. YOU MIGHT THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE: - 8+ years of experience in enterprise product marketing or a closely related go-to-market role, ideally across SaaS, cloud platforms, security, identity, infrastructure, or AI products. - Demonstrated experience marketing to IT administrators, security stakeholders, technical buyers, or the teams responsible for deploying and governing enterprise software. - The ability to understand and explain technical concepts such as identity and access, provisioning, permissions, security controls, audit logs, compliance requirements, data access, and usage or spend management. - A strong track record of bringing enterprise product capabilities to market and building the materials, programs, and field guidance that help customers adopt them. - Excellent writing and messaging skills, with the ability to make complex product or governance decisions clear without overstating what is available. - Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Security, Sales, Customer Success, Customer Education, and Marketing teams. - A customer-first approach grounded in research, direct conversations, support and field feedback, and an understanding of what makes enterprise administrators trust or reject a product. - Strong analytical instincts and experience connecting marketing efforts to deployment, activation, adoption, or customer confidence rather than content engagement alone. - Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where launch timing, product details, and customer needs can change quickly. - Genuine interest in responsible AI deployment and the practical work required to help organizations adopt new technology safely and at scale. WORKPLACE & LOCATION This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Occasional travel will be required. About OpenAI OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
