Travel: Up to 15% Job ID: 1776 The Role: IonQ is seeking a Head of Product for its Quantum Interconnect Platform to serve as the primary bridge between our internal R&D/engineering organization and our sales and go-to-market teams. This person will own the product narrative for the Quantum Interconnect Platform, translating deep technical R&D into a clear, compelling product and market offering, engaging directly with customers, and driving early commercial traction. This is a hybrid product-and-market-facing role: part product manager, part technical storyteller, part early-stage specialty salesperson. You'll work closely with engineers to lead definition of the product roadmap, interface customers and business unit leadership to shape how the product is positioned, sold, and grown, and ultimately close the loop by feeding this information back into the product roadmap Responsibilities: Product Definition & Roadmap: - Create and maintain product materials for the Quantum Interconnect Platform - Interface directly with engineering teams to define the product roadmap, including adjacent technologies as needed - Translate technical capabilities into clear product requirements and external-facing content Customer & Market Engagement: - Gather and synthesize customer feedback to inform product direction - Lead customer meetings to communicate the value and use cases of quantum memories, interconnects, and repeaters. - Support early-stage lead generation by engaging directly with prospective customers - Manage external-facing technical content, including website copy,specification sheets, and case studies Go-to-Market Development: - Partner with business unit leads to define quantum memory, interconnect, and repeater product offerings - Build go-to-market materials from introductory decks to case study deep-dives - Interface with customers and stakeholders including enterprise C-suite executives, government officials, and senior technical staff - Help establish product-market fit and drive early traction for the platform Requirements: - PhD or advanced technical degree in an engineering, physics, or related field - 10+ years of experience in product management within quantum computing, networking, or related deep-tech industries - Direct experience in quantum computing or quantum networking product management - Background in management consulting or equivalent experience building high-quality, executive-ready presentation materials - Strong technical fluency, able to engage credibly with engineers, scientists, and physicists on roadmap and technical tradeoffs - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, customer-facing narratives - Comfort operating in a customer-facing, early-stage capacity supporting sales teams. Direct sales experience is not required. - High attention to detail and ability to produce polished, professional deliverables (decks, spec sheets, web content) - Self-driven; able to work independently with a high level of ownership. - Collaborate horizontally across technical and program management teams to establish an efficient, high-performing product function within the organization Preferred Qualifications: - Track record of translating deep R&D into a defined, market-ready product offering - Experience building and delivering "first call" or early-stage GTM decks for technical products - Comfort working across both hardware and software domains on first-of-a-kind products - Prior experience in a newly-created role with significant scope for growth The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site. Travel: Up to 10% Job ID: 1771 The Role: As a Product Manager within the Quantum Platform – Devices division, you will play a key role in supporting a growing portfolio of cutting-edge products by taking ownership of day-to-day product operations. You will ensure product features are clearly defined, tracked throughout every stage of the product lifecycle and delivered successfully across cross-functional teams. Working closely with Engineering, Industrialisation, Production and Marketing, you will translate market and customer insights into product features for refinement by engineering teams, while leading the triage, planning and coordination of special customer projects. You will help optimise product lifecycle processes, ensuring efficient collaboration, smooth feature delivery and successful execution from concept through to launch. - - Own product operations, ensuring features are defined, tracked throughout the product lifecycle and delivered across cross-functional teams. - Translate market and customer insights into product features, while triaging, planning and coordinating special customer projects. - Partner with Engineering, Industrialisation, Production and Marketing to optimise product lifecycle processes and drive efficient product delivery. What you'll be doing: You will take ownership of the operational delivery of product management, ensuring products and features progress efficiently from validated requirements through development, industrialisation and commercialisation. Acting as the day-to-day product decision-maker within defined boundaries, you will drive cross-functional alignment, maintain product data integrity and coordinate delivery across multiple teams to ensure products are launched on time and to a high standard. This role is integral to enabling the Product team to scale effectively, providing operational ownership and supporting the successful delivery of an expanding product portfolio. - - Own the operational delivery of product management, ensuring features progress from validated requirements through development, industrialisation and commercialisation. - Drive cross-functional alignment, maintain product data integrity and coordinate timely delivery across the product lifecycle. - Act as the day-to-day product decision-maker within defined boundaries, enabling the Product team to scale beyond a single Product Manager. What you'll bring: In this role, you will take ownership of feature delivery from end to end, defining requirements and acceptance criteria, coordinating engineering handovers, validating delivery and supporting successful commercial launches. You will manage non-standard sales opportunities by assessing feasibility, making configuration decisions within agreed boundaries and documenting exceptions, while ensuring full traceability from customer requests through to delivered capability. Working closely with Engineering, Industrialisation, Production, Marketing and Sales, you will coordinate cross-functional activities to remove blockers, maintain an accurate and prioritised Jira backlog, and respond to product enquiries from Sales. You will also prepare products for launch through documentation, training, pricing and sales enablement, maintain up-to-date product documentation, communicate complex photonic, cryogenic and networking architectures to a range of stakeholders, and represent the product in customer-facing activities including pre-sales support, technical discussions and trade shows. - - Own end-to-end feature delivery, from requirements definition and engineering handover through to delivery validation, commercial launch and ongoing product documentation. - Coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Industrialisation, Production, Marketing and Sales, while managing Jira backlog integrity, product enquiries and non-standard sales opportunities. - Support successful product adoption by communicating complex technical architectures, ensuring launch readiness, providing pre-sales support and representing the product in customer discussions and at trade shows. You'll be a great fit with: The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Microengineering or a related technical discipline, combined with an action-oriented mindset and the confidence to make decisions in an environment of uncertainty. You will be able to understand and reason about complex hardware products involving photonics, cryogenics and networking technologies, while communicating effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders. You will be comfortable representing products in customer-facing situations, including technical discussions, pre-sales meetings and trade shows, and have a strong understanding of manufacturing environments, including industrialisation constraints, production realities and supply chain considerations. You will also be confident resolving conflicting priorities, negotiating with stakeholders and developing deep expertise in quantum technologies, supported by advanced Jira proficiency, including workflow configuration, automation rules and custom field management. - - Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Microengineering or a related technical discipline, with the ability to make product decisions autonomously within defined boundaries. - Strong technical, commercial and customer-facing communication skills, with experience discussing complex hardware products and representing products in pre-sales meetings and trade shows. - Advanced Jira expertise, manufacturing and industrialisation knowledge, excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, and a genuine curiosity for deep-tech and quantum technologies. Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity.
